SIG Open House at Drew University
MADISON, NJ – On Sunday March 18, 2007, the Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) will hold an open house for its summer residential program at Drew University.
Parents of gifted and talented students in grades four through eleven are invited to attend the open house for the three-week summer program that runs from June 23 through July 13.
SIG’s open house program is designed to inform parents about program details, academic curriculum, and special program information. The event is hosted by members of the SIG staff and begins at 10 am with registration, coffee and snacks. The schedule includes a presentation, question-and-answer sessions, lunch and escorted tours of the Madison campus.
Created and offered by the Summer Institute for the Gifted, the residential program at Drew University is designed for students in need of activities that stretch their abilities, expand their knowledge, and engage them in creative and active learning. Students have access to Drew facilities and reside in the on-campus dormitories.
SIG’s prestigious residential program offers students more than 80 academic, cultural and recreational courses at eight of America’s finest college campuses. In addition to Drew University, the residential program is offered at Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Emory University, Princeton University, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, University of Michigan, and Vassar College.
“We bring together students who share intellectual, creative, and cultural interests and abilities creating an atmosphere of learning, sharing and commitment,” said Stephen Gessner, president of the Summer Institute for the Gifted.
SIG has offered programs for gifted students since 1984, with more than 1,600 students from 43 states and 20 countries participating last year. SIG also offers a day program for gifted students in kindergarten through sixth grade at Bryn Mawr College, Fairfield University, Manhattanville College, Moorestown Friends School and Stuart Country Day School.
