Gifted Summer Program Now at Yale University

New Haven, CT – The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG), one of the nation's leading gifted summer programs, will be launching a program for gifted study at Yale University beginning in the summer of 2011.

The program at Yale will run from June 26 through July 16, 2011 and will be open to academically gifted and talented students ages 13 through 17. Students live in the Yale dormitories and choose five courses, selecting from nearly 70 academic, art and recreational classes that meet daily.

"SIG is thrilled to welcome Yale University, our tenth residential campus in 2011," states Barbara Swicord, Ed.D., President and CEO of SIG. "Joining Princeton University and Dartmouth College, Yale is our third Ivy League campus and is sure to be one of our most popular sites for gifted students. We've already received a tremendous amount of interest for Yale and our open spots are filling up rapidly."

Founded in 1701, Yale is a major research university that was ranked third overall of all national universities by the U.S. News and World Report's 'Best Colleges 2011.' Interested families can also attend the open house on January 29 to better acquaint both parents and students with SIG.

For students living within driving distance of Yale or any of SIG's residential program campuses, a lower cost commuter option is offered for a limited number of students. Students can take advantage of the academic and social advantages of a SIG program while living at home.

SIG's mission is to provide the highest quality educational and social opportunities for academically gifted and talented students through programs designed to meet their abilities and needs. SIG is a program of the National Society for Gifted and Talented (NSGT) (SIG), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

SIG offers their prestigious three-week residential program for gifted children ages 10-17, at ten of American's finest college campuses: Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Dartmouth College, Emory University, Princeton University, UC-Berkeley, UCLA, UT Austin, Vassar College and Yale University.

Interested families and educators can request brochures, scholarship information and materials by calling SIG at (866) 303-4744, ext. 5159, or by e-mail at sig.info@giftedstudy.org. Visit SIG on the web at www.giftedstudy.org
